A CORONER has recorded a verdict of accidental death after a 69-year-old Halesowen man fell from a ladder while cutting an overhanging tree.

Jagdesh Ram died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on April 22 following the incident.

Black Country coroner Zafar Siddique told Black Country Coroner’s Court in Oldbury that Mr Ram, a retired security guard who was born in India, had been cutting an overhanging branch from a neighbour’s garden when he fell from a ladder.

He suffered a rib injury in the fall and his condition declined in hospital.

The coroner said he suffered an acute kidney injury and developed breathing difficulties, then passed away.

He died of hospital acquired pneumonia and the rib injury sustained when he fell from the ladder, the coroner said as he concluded that Mr Ram died an accidental death due to a fall.
