A MAN has died after a car crash that closed off Wollaston High Street last night.
Emergency services flooded the scene from around 4.20pm yesterday (Thursday October 8) after a car hit a wall near to the Red Forte Indian restaurant.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care paramedic to the scene after being alerted at 4.18pm and a spokesman said: "On arrival crews found the driver of a car, a man, in cardiac arrest being given CPR by bystanders and fire colleagues.
"Ambulance staff took over resuscitation efforts on scene before being taken on blue lights to hospital in a critical condition."
West Midlands Police have since confirmed that a 75-year-old man died after the incident.
A police spokesman said: "He was taken to hospital and despite the best efforts of emergency services he was sadly pronounced dead at hospital."
