A POPULAR school uniform shop in Kingswinford has re-opened its doors in a new location and the new owners have pledged to do all they can to keep the legacy of its former owner alive.

Totally Uniform, which has been supplying school uniforms to the local community since 1989, has re-opened in the former Dudley Kidney Patients Association shop in Kingswinford High Street after being taken over by Kingswinford business owners Greg and Grant Walters and Nick Jones who run The Sports Shop.

The uniform shop was previously based in Park Street and was run by much-loved Jenny Batty who tragically died, aged 59, on December 18 on the day she was due to retire - after she was hit by a car in Brettell Lane while walking her dog.

Just days prior to her death she had sold the business to the team at the sports shop and Grant Walters told the News: "I had personally been working alongside Jenny since April 2020, organising and planning the handover and future development of Totally Uniform after Jenny’s retirement.

"Totally Uniform is now Jenny’s legacy, and as the new owners we will ensure to do everything possible to build on Jenny’s tremendous hard work.

"Totally Uniform’s success to date has been down to the sheer hard work and passion Jenny put into every aspect of the business.

"She was truly a unique lady, extremely caring, who had an impact on everyone she met. We have all lost such a fantastic member of the community."

He said Jenny's former staff members had transferred to the new business and he said there would be a bench sited inside the new shop remembering Jenny.

Grant said during lockdown the team have been "hard at work renovating and rebranding the business - creating a modernised look and feel that will see Totally Uniform transition into its next phase of life".

He said: "As well as the new premises, we have heavily invested in our IT infrastructure, implementing innovative order systems, stock control measures and the creation of a brand-new website.

"Our new online store allows customers to order 24/7 with home delivery and click and collect options, plus much more.

"We see this aspect as fundamental during the current pandemic – allowing us to still function and maintain service to customers during any future periods of tighter social restrictions.

"Our mission is to offer the seamless online customer experience expected, whilst also being right in the heart of the local community like we always have been - offering a personalised, friendly and informative experience in-store."

Stourbridge News: To help encourage people to spend their money locally as businesses emerge from months of restrictions and closure - we are relaunching our Love Local Business campaign.

This follows our successful campaign, of the same name, which we ran in the News Group last summer and over Christmas.

The aim is to promote the fantastic traders we have in our towns and urge readers to give them their custom at this key time.

As part of the Newsquest publishing group, the Stourbridge News reaches a large percentage of the local population with its print publication, record online audiences and social media.

Businesses wishing to be featured in the campaign can call 01905 742372 or email dale.godliman@localiq.co.uk.
