SNOOKER legend Jimmy White sent fans snooker loopy when he stopped off at a Wollaston bar to give a talk.
Jimmy - known as the 'Whirlwind' - was guest of honour at The Britannia Sports Bar on Monday evening (August 9).
Landlord Wayne Etheridge had been trying to get the star to put in an appearance for nearly a decade and he finally agreed.
Wayne said: "The event was a sell out with well over 100 fans attending. Jimmy was fantastic with all his stories and a real fans' favourite."
Jimmy, who shot to fame in the 1980s, is still an active player - having turned professional around 40 years ago - and in his twilight years of playing he's won three seniors world titles.
He was nicknamed the 'Whirlwind' because of the speed at which he could win a game and he was a household name in the 80s along with the likes of Steve Davis, Dennis Taylor, the late Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins - although the top World Snooker Championships title unfortunately eluded him.
After tucking into dinner at the pub, Jimmy met fans before going on to talk about the ups and downs of his long, distinguished career.
Wayne said: "He gave us all a good insight to his addictions, including how he blew £2.5million on gambling and how he overcame his demons, plus the highs and lows of his playing career including the rivalries with certain players and his friendship with the great Alex Higgins."
