STOURBRIDGE Junction's beloved station cat George is in the running for a national TV pet of the year competition.
The famous feline, who has fans all over the world thanks to his social media accounts, has been nominated in The Pet Show's competition....hot off the heels of his victory in the national Rail Delivery Group Twitter competition The World Cup of Stations.
The story of how George has captured the hearts of Stourbridge commuters and residents was featured last night (Sunday) on the ITV show hosted by Dermot O'Leary and Joanna Page which takes a look at the UK's obsession with animals and pets.
His owner Ian Tomlinson was also interviewed along with station manager Simone Carter who told how the friendly ginger and white cat had brought light and hope to people during the pandemic, with Ian describing him as a "ginger ray of sunshine".
George's fans are now urged to help him win the TV pet of the year competition, after he was featured as the third nominee in the running for the top title which celebrates animals who have done something incredible.
The Pet Show, which began airing on October 31, can be seen on Sundays on ITV at 5.30pm, with the final episode scheduled for Sunday December 19.
