A WOMAN from Dudley has been handed an eight-week jail term suspended for six months for theft.

Melanie Cleaver of Osprey Drive stole toothpaste from Poundland in Dudley on August 29.

The 41-year-old committed this offence during a previous suspended sentence order made by Black Country magistrates on July 31 for three theft offences.

Cleaver must be under curfew with electronic monitoring for eight weeks and was ordered to pay £216 in compensation.

Meanwhile, a man from Smethwick has been fined after failing to stop his vehicle when asked to do so by an officer.

Benedict Sossou of Brasshouse Lane failed to stop his moped in Fieldstone View, Lower Gornal on August 30.

The 19-year-old was driving the moped without insurance or a licence.

Sossou was fined £320 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £100 in costs.

He is disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

A woman from Halesowen has been fined for drink driving.

Helen Whitmore drove a car in Station Road, Rowley Regis after consuming 88 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The 36-year-old was fined £200 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £135 in costs.

She was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 18 months.

A man from Netherton has been handed a community order for threatening behaviour.

Phillip Walker of Baptist End Road used threatening words and abusive behaviour towards an induvial in Coseley on September 29.

The 31-year-old must comply with any activity as required by a responsible officer for maximum of 20 days.

He was ordered to pay £100 in compensation and a victim surcharge of £95.
