DUDLEY Leisure Centre opened its doors for the final time today (Sunday January 16) – ahead of the opening of the town's brand new £18 million facility.
The centre in Wellington Road will close to the public for good at 9.30pm tonight.
Just over a week later the new Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre on Constitution Hill is set to opens its doors from Monday January 24.
Councillor Simon Phipps, Dudley Council's cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said: "We are excited to be opening a brand new state-of-the-art facility in Dudley.
"Residents living near to the existing leisure centre have been reassured the site will have 24-hour security onsite while it is being decommissioned.
"More information and updates about any development on the Wellington Road site will be communicated to residents when available."
The new Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre includes a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool, a teaching pool with spectator provision, sauna, gym, immersive spin studio, four-court sports hall, wellness suite and two large fitness studios, plus a café for centre users and a soft play area for kids with catering facilities and a party room.
