A CULT rock band from Stourbridge is set to reform to honour an iconic music venue.
Members of Fretblanket, an alternative group that had US chart success in the 90s, will perform for the first time in 23 years at a blue plaque unveiling event for the Market Tavern in Kidderminster.
The plaque day celebration will be held on March 19 for the former music venue, which saw acts such as Radiohead, Catatonia and Robert Plant take to its stage in the 90s.
Fretblanket songwriters Will Copley and Clive Powell will be performing an acoustic set of the band's hits on the day.
Mr Copley, who lives in Stourport, said he's excited to get back on the stage with his bandmate and remembers the magic of the Market Tavern.
He said: "We were absolutely in our first flush of youth and enjoyed the venue.
"We went all the way from Stourbridge and Kidderminster, to New York and Los Angeles.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to go back and do the thing I love doing.
"Clive is so excited, we did a rehearsal the other say and really got the juices flowing."
Mr Copley said he's been talking with his other bandmates with the hope of gigging as a four-piece again.
He added: "We've actually been talking about reforming, getting together to do some gigs. Two of the band live in America now so getting together has been difficult.
"But we are talking about that again."
A crowd funder was started by past promoter Mark Badgeman to raise money for the heritage blue plaque, with the target being reached in two hours.
The plaque will be located at the flats at Ray Mercer Way, off Comberton Hill, where the venue stood prior to demolition.
Tickets for the Market Tavern Plaque Day Celebration cost £9.45 and are available via Eventbrite.
