A 62-YEAR-OLD Amblecote man has been handed a community order and a restraining order after being found guilty of assault and possession of an offensive weapon in public.
Leslie Harwood, of Brettell Lane, was found guilty of two charges of assault and being in possession of a weapon, a hammer, in Vauxhall Road, Stourbridge, on October 20, 2021.
He was given a community order with a requirement to have treatment for alcohol dependency under the direction of Atlantic House.
Magistrates also fined him £50 and ordered him to pay total compensation of £250 and £400 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service when sentencing him at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court.
They also ordered the hammer be forfeited and destroyed under the Prevention of Crime Act 1953.
Harwood was also given a two-year restraining order preventing him from going to the Doghouse pub, Vauxhall Road, Stourbridge, and from contacting one of his victims.
