MERRY Hill has welcomed the opening of the fast-growing Australian coffee shop chain Gloria Jeans.
The chain opened its first UK store in 2019 and has since grown to more than 23 stores across the country, becoming a popular coffee shop renowned for its speciality gourmet coffee.
The new coffee shop, which sources its coffee from ethical producers, opened its doors last week on the upper mall near H&M, creating 10 new jobs in the centre.
Bilal Shafiq, manager at Gloria Jeans, said: “Every day our team serves up more than 90,000 delicious coffees in more than 50 countries around the world. Since opening our first coffee shop in the UK in 2019 we’ve seen demand for our drinks rocket.
“As one of the leading shopping destinations in the region, we can’t think of a better place than Merry Hill to open our new coffee shop and expand our presence across the West Midlands.”
Jonathan Poole, Merry Hill centre manager, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Gloria Jeans. They’ve got a fantastic approach to coffee and offer our visitors another great reason to catch up with friends and family at the centre or take a break during their visit.”
The opening of the new store follows the arrival of Pizza Hut, artisan bakery Batch’d, family-owned The Brownie Box and German fast-food brand Extrawurst.
