GAMING brand Xbox has finally opened up about the creation of a striking mural of England football star Jude Bellingham that appeared on The Ryemarket walls two months ago.
The mural is one of six across the country commissioned by FA sponsor Xbox to celebrate stars of the men’s and women’s England teams and the heroes who helped make their dream a reality.
As well as Jude Bellingham, from Stourbridge, the campaign features Conor Coady, Tyrone Mings, Demi Stokes, Ella Toone, and Ellen White.
The murals have been painted in places that were important in the players’ career journeys from a dream to an England cap.
Each one has been painted by a local artist to help the players say thank you to their communities.
The image of Jude was spray painted on the shopping centre’s Market Street wall back in freezing cold February by Birmingham graffiti artist and illustrator Gent 48 who had to remain tight-lipped about the project at the time.
Eighteen-year-old midfielder Jude played for Birmingham City before moving to Borussia Dortmund, Germany, and he also made it into the England squad for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament.
In a promotional video about the mural project, he said he’d always dreamed of playing for England as he hailed his dad, Mark Bellingham, his hero for inspiring him to realise his ambition.
