A POPULAR wild animal park near Stourbridge has taken the decision to cancel its shows during the heatwave to help keep the animals, staff and visitors safe as temperatures continue to soar.
The WILD Zoological Park, at Halfpenny Green, Bobbington, has posted a note on its Facebook page advising visitors of the cancellations due to the baking hot weather.
It said the birds and animals were struggling yesterday and visitors didn’t want to sit in the blazing sun, adding: “It’s going to be even hotter over the next few days so there’s just no way we can operate our normal displays.”
People are still welcome to visit though as the park remains open and has plenty of shade.
A return pass to attend on a future date to see the shows is offered but zoo bosses have recommended people rebook to attend another day instead.
The notice to customers adds: “We want you to have the best experience possible and the next few days will make that difficult. Apologies for disappointing news but the safety of our animals, guests and staff is priority.”
It states that all shows have been cancelled for today (Friday August 12) and Saturday August 13 and adds: “We will keep an eye on the heat levels and make a decision for Sunday.”
