Green Light For New Midlands Tackle Show.

A new fishing tackle event has been given the green light and will take place in April.

The Total Coarse Fishing Showcase, is the first real Motor Show' style event for the coarse angling industry for years.

The whole point of this new event will be that it's a showcase for the new tackle heading your way in 2008.

There is no selling of tackle and anglers will be encouraged to go back and support their local tackle shop by buying it there. Indeed tackle shops are being incentivised to bring coach loads of their customers to the show.

Top companies that have already signed up to show off their wares include Preston Innovations, Masterline, Garbolino, Shakespeare, Linear Fisheries, SonuBaits, Hardy, Greys, Chub, Trabucco, CEMEX and Korum It all takes place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire on April 25, 26 and 27.

Parking will be free and entry is only £8 if booked in advance.

Black Country lad Lee Parkes, from Dudley, has set up an angling guiding business in Spain that is proving popular with anglers all over the UK.

The angling safari duo can be contacted through their website www.spanishsafaris.net or on 0034924658006 Maggott Ban At The Monument Fishery.

Rob Hales has banned the use of maggots at his specimen carp day ticket water The Monument, as he is convinced that the all time classic angler's bait is of no nutritional value to the huge sized fish, that inhabit the famous Shropshire venue.

Boilies and pellets will now be the only two baits allowed at the fishery, as they contain far more weight gaining proteins than any other anglers bait.

Hales said: "Carp attain far higher weights in France existing on a diet of boilies and pellets and 80lbs carp are not uncommon on the other side of the channel, the maggot ban will remain in force until October, when we may re-allow their use for the winter months."

The fishery is expected to produce its first 50lbs carp this year and once again is booked solid until the Autumn with anglers eager to take on the huge specimen fish.
