DURING the business part of the meeting a report was given of the Spring Group Meeting which had been much enjoyed by all who attended.
The Home Economics Secretary reported that a workshop on small flower arrangements would take place on Monday 15th September. Details were given of the resolutions to be discussed at the May meeting - the subjects being the banning of trawling for fish on the bottom of the oceans and the inappropriate imprisonment of the severely mentally ill.
A number of members had made simple shopping bags to be sold at the Coffee Morning in aid of Mary Stevens Hospice. The bags were displayed and it is hoped that many other members will be encouraged to produce their own easy-to-make bags.
The speaker was Alan Thornton on his life as a Seaside Hotelier. This proved to be a most entertaining account of his time in the seaside town of Weymouth.
Members will now be making plans for the Cake Stall at the Village Fete on 5th July. The Afternoon and Evening WI's will combine to produce a delicious array of cakes - hopefully in far better weather than 2008!! Plans are also well advanced for the Mary Stephens Coffee Morning on 13th September.
Meetings are held at the Community Centre on the 2nd Monday in every month (except August) at 2pm. Prospective members and visitors are always welcome. Please either come to a meeting or contact the undersigned for further details.
