A STOURBRIDGE film-maker hoping to put the town on the movie-making map is getting set to see the fruits of his labour on the big screen.

James Anderson Brown from Pedmore has spent the last 18 months working on his first feature Ugly and In Love.

Now with a 15-minute teaser for the movie in the can and having blown well over the £2k budget on the shoot alone, he is hoping to impress investors and industry bigwigs when he stages a glitzy, red-carpet private screening for the cast and crew at Poppy Red in Birmingham next week.

James, who has his own Fortunediablo Productions company, told the News: "It's been a very long, slow process to finish post production since we used the whole budget on the shoot, and had nothing left to do a sound mix and grade - which is bad considering we made the short for just under £2k when the actual budget would have been £53k for the resources we used.

"But it's now finally in the can. Finished and polished to the standard we wanted it."

The film centres on a downbeat loser caled Samuel J Jarvis whose life is turned upside down when he meets the gentle Louise Elizabeth Callum who falls for his unpredictability and strange ways.

Complete opposites, they fall hopelessly in love and begin a dark, funny and ultimately tragic journey together.

It is 31-year-old writer and producer James's first stab at a feature flick and he's getting set to take the 15-minute teaser on the road to major film festivals in the hope of securing finance to shoot the full-length movie in and around Stourbridge later this year.

Directed by James's director pal Matt Cusworth - the film stars Stourbridge born actor Nick Clarke and Birmingham based actress Caroline Frewin.
