AT our last meeting on April 21st, the minutes of the AGM in March were accepted, also the treasurers report.
Chairman, Barbara gregory went on to discuss future Federation plans including the Annual Lunch on 28th July, the Harvest Supper on 1st October and the Carol Service on 13th December. Members were invited to make a note of these dates should they wish to attend.
Pat Caddick was thanked for arranging our Birthday lunch on 7th April and she announced that the next Lunch Club meeting would be on Monday 12th May at the Lawnswood at 12:15pm.
The Theatre Group are going to be busy this month but will then take a break for the summer, Barbara Taylor has certainly provided us with an excellent season of entertainment.
Now that gardening has started, our thoughts go to hopefully good weather and the opportunity to visit some members gardens for a browse and a cup of coffee, the first occasion to do this is on Wednesday May 14th at 1.30am Liz Hubbard's home.
We are having a stall at Wordsley Carnival on 14th June and members were asked to contribute videos, DVDs, books, jigsaw puzzles and magazines to sell.
Our speaker was Mr Mike Rogers on behalf of the RNLI who filled us in with the marvellous achievements of the organisation to date and the ongoing training of recruits which is essential for it's future success.
It was good to hear of the number of young people who involve themselves in the RNLI not only as recruits but in fundraising and other activities to ensure deployment of the Lifeboats when they are needed.
Next meeting will be on 19th May 10am Wordsley Green Community Centre when the speaker will be Mr P.Aubrey talking about the Botanical Gardens Past, Present and Future. We shall be following this up with a trip to Edgbaston on 2nd June - should be a great day out.
