A KINGSWINFORD man has landed a court bill of more than £900 after admitting two cases of dumping tree cuttings in the borough.
Michael Mills, aged 23, of Ketley Road in Kingswinford pleaded guilty to the offences which took place on December 1 and 2 last year, when he appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday May 15).
Mills was seen by a local resident dumping the waste on the two days on council land, known as The Knoll, off Portway Road in Kingswinford.
The resident reported details of the offence to the local authority and staff from the council's waste management team followed the case up.
After Mills refused to make contact with the waste care officers to discuss the matter, a prosecution file was submitted to the council's legal team.
In court Mills pleaded guilty to the offences and was fined £100 for each offence, ordered to pay £520 compensation, £245 costs and £15 victim support.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for the environment, said: "We would like to thank the resident who reported this incident to us and made this prosecution possible. We have shown time and time again in Dudley that fly-tipping will not be tolerated and we would ask all residents to report any such incidents to us."
People can report fly-tipping incidents to Dudley Council Plus on 01384 812345.
