STAFF and pupils at The Ridge Primary in Wollaston are getting set to celebrate the school's 40th birthday.
The Gregory Road school first opened its doors in September 1968 - and from September this year through to next July, teachers and students will be holding a series of celebratory events to mark the ruby milestone.
Headteacher Deb Hudson said: "We've got lots of really exciting events planned for the year.
"We're having a big birthday bash in September with music through the decades and live bands. We're hoping to build a ruby garden in the school grounds and we're also having a sixties focus week so children can learn about the decade in which the school first opened."
Quiz nights and a sixties disco are also being lined up, as well as an open day - set for next March.
Mrs Hudson added: "We want to invite as many people as we can with connections to the school. We want to hear from past pupils and ex-members of staff - we're also looking for old photos and memories of the school as the children are hoping to publish a book."
