Dudley's Darren McDermott has finally being given a new date for his much-anticipated shot at the British Middleweight title.

The unbeaten 29-year-old will now fight for the Lonsdale belt on Friday June 20 at the Aston Events Centre.

The Black Country bodysnatcher has been desperate for an announcement after champion Wayne Elcock pulled out of the original fight.

The West Midlands tear-up was set to go ahead on April 25 but the Birmingham-based champion was struck down with a chest infection only a week before.

McDermott has been in limbo ever since while behind the scene negotiations have been going on, but now a date is sorted "Macca" can step up his training for the biggest fight of his life.

The Priory powerhouse said: "I'm really buzzing now and the message from me is simply let's get it on.

"We will now pick up the sparring as a I prepare to bring the belt back to the Black Country."
