THE chairman Mrs Joyce Knots, welcomed members and two visitors , Mrs Angela Key and Mrs Edna Baker to the April meeting.

She also thanked everyone for their good wishes and cards on the occasion of her golden wedding anniversary. The secretary, Mrs Margaret Brooks, and the treasurer, Mrs Rosemary Bell gave their monthly reports. Mrs Helen Greenway gave a report on the Federation meeting.

The quiz team from the West Midlands Federation will go forward to the national final on 10 May. Dates for the diary were given as follows: 19 June - Renishaw Hall and Gardens; 28 July - annual lunch; 1 October - harvest supper; 3 November - inter-guild quiz and 13 December - carol service. Following the AGM, a display of arts and crafts, submitted by guilds , was held.

The speaker for the evening was Mr Ray Griffiths, who spoke about "Searching for Cedric", a wartime colleague who died shortly before the war ended aged eighteen. The guild birthday dinner will be at Stourbridge tennis club on 21 May 6:30 for 7:00pm.

Mrs Brooks thanked the members who had submitted articles for the Federation arts & crafts display. Reminders were given about "Anything Goes" at the Edgecliffe School on 8 May and "Outside Edge" at the Rose Theatre on 11 June. The ramblers were due to meet again on 19 May in hall 2 of the Norton Community Centre at 7:30pm, and new members and visitors will receive a warm welcome.
