A KINGSWINFORD councillor is urging people to turn out and support a charity football match this weekend - to raise money for cancer organisations.
Cllr Patrick Harley is organising the match between Royal Mail and Gornal Athletic IX as they do battle for the Sally Anne Memorial Cup.
This year is the third time the teams have met after a member of the under 13 Gornal Athletic team asked the club to help fundraise for a family member who was suffering from cancer.
The first match raised funds to thank the local groups who had treated Sally Anne.
However a year later she passed away, so the teams decided to have a re-match in her memory.
The event raised more than £500 for cancer charities.
This year the teams will be fighting for the Sally Anne Memorial Cup on Sunday (May 25) at Gornal's Garden Walk Stadium at 1pm.
Admission is £1.50 and all proceeds will be split between Macmillan Nurses and the Georgina Ward at Russells Hall Hospital.
Gornal Athletic Trustee, cllr Patrick Harley urged people to turn out and support the teams.
He said: "Everyone knows somebody close to them that has suffered from this terrible disease.
"Sunday's event will hopefully raise much needed funds for two organisations that treated and cared for Sally Anne."
