THREE people have been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision between a Mini and a Ford Escort in Kingswinford.

The crash happened at around 4.25pm yesterday evening (Thursday May 22) in Stallings Lane.

Two fire crews from Brierley Hill, three ambulances, a rapid response, an incident support officer and a County air ambulance from Cosford were in attendance.

Incident support officer, Martin Eaton said: "Two cars were involved in the main collision, the Mini and Ford Escort both had suffered extensive front end damage.

"The driver of the mini, a women believed to be in her 50's was complaining of back pain and appeared to be suffering from whiplash injuries.

"An off duty paramedic came across the incident and stopped and dealt with her."

One man in the Ford Escort was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed using cutting equipment.

The two men and the women were taken to Russells Hall Hospital, all three had non life threatening injuries and all were later discharged.

The driver of a third car, a man believed to be in his 30's left the road and went up an embankment and collided with a tree.

He was not injured and did not need to go to hospital.
