BLACK Country Fibromyalgia Support Group held its monthly meeting Thursday 15 May at Customer service suite Merry Hill.

There was a good attendance despite the nasty wet day after a few warm ones so typical of English weather! The committee members welcomed new members and everyone introduced themselves with a short 'history' to help new people feel at home.

There was a number of venues suggested for the summer day out and members will be 'voting' on the suggestions of Portmerion, Cotswold and Blenheim or any others put forward by June meeting.

The National Awareness Day Event held in Westminster and attended by members of BCFMSG was reported upon by some of the brave souls who journeyed to the capital May 12th. Most considered meeting those MPs attending All Party group Coffee Morning very worthwhile.

It was noted that BCFMSG had the LARGEST contingent of any of the 100+ Fibromyalgia support group national network . After the 'business of the day which included lunch at the Central Methodist Hall, the 'tourist' element had taken over and sights such as Downing St, Buckingham Place and the intrepid treasurer, Judith and her associates ventured on the London Eye Although the travellers returned back in the Black Country in time for late evening meals at home all related how much the visit was good for the awareness of Fybromyalgia in parliament.(Ian Pearson a local MP was able to arrive at the Coffee Morning) The monthly raffle added a reasonable sum to the groups funds to help cover overheads such as postage and printing costs of group minutes/newsletter. In addition there were a few 'awareness items for sale, the excellent 'plugmate'assisting those with hand pain to insert/remove electrical plugs from sockets, the paper slitters, badges, ribbons and yes-the first batch of Christmas cards was purchased by a well forward thinking member.

The next meeting will be held 3rd Thursday of the month at same venue starting 3pm

People living with Fibromyalgia, their carers, relatives and friends are most welcome to attend
