THE president welcomed members and Mrs Joy Evans, the Hagley group co-ordinator who was our representative at the forthcoming WIAGM to be held in Liverpool in June.

She came to hear our debate on the two resolutions that were to be presented at the AGM And to ascertain how we wished her to vote on our behalf.

A lively discussion produced votes in favour of both resolutions.

As part of the 90 years celebrations of WI in Worcestershire every institute was being twinned with another in the county.

We had received an invitation from Fairfield to join them at their garden meeting in June, as many members as possible would go. Two group activities were on offer, Stour ton would host the group walk on July 30, and a summer tea party would be held at the Hagley country club on August 14.

We had received a letter of thanks from our April speaker Mrs Sue Coombs for our donation and the voluntary collection in aid of the RNLI.

Our member Mrs Betty Bulmer was a 100 years old on May 12; She regularly attended meetings and many of the Institute events.

The president had visited her on the day and said how proud she was of her telegrams from the Queen.

Members agreed that the 400 tea bags received from Tailors Tea be donated to Mary Stevens Hospice as previously, the monthly produce stall held a cakes and preserves event, this was well supported as was the recipe swap feature.

The final event of the evening was a competition to guess the names of 12 exotic fruits which had been organized by Marjorie Priest, this created a great deal of interest and was won by Barbara Mason who correctly identified 9 of them.

The next meeting on June 9 will be a fish and chip supper followed by a talk by Caroline Howard from the Hagley fish and chip emporium
