The newly-formed Stourbridge Rugby Club ladies team ended their first season with a second place in the Sevens tournament hosted by Fiveways Old Edwardians.
Convincing wins in the heats including a victory against local rivals Dudley Kingswinford 29 - 0 saw them secure a place in the final against Birmingham University.
This proved one step to far FOR the the fearsome females who went down 21 - 7 despite a spirited effort.
The team was only put together last October but has since grown to a full team. Head coach Bill Webb is looking forward to next season with great expectations.
He said: "Considering the majority of ladies had little to no rugby experience before joining the team the achievements made to date are just fantastic.
"The team started as it meant to go on with a hat-trick of wins starting with its first game ever back in February against Dudley Kingswinford followed by wins over Stafford and Fiveways Old Edwardians."
The team has applied to join the Midlands National Challenge two league next season and find out later this year if they have been successful. In the meantime training continues at Stourton Park during the summer every Wednesday night from 7pm with additional fitness training sessions held on Monday evenings.
The team are actively looking for new players from the complete novice to the more experienced.
The side are also looking to appoint a physiotherapist for the ladies team.
