SANDWELL Lions put in a brave performance in the wet and windy weather at near-neighbours Birmingham Monarchs.
The Lions made the short trip to Perry Park and in very difficult conditions started well and were in front after five heats, but Birmingham slowly got back into the match, and ran-out 102-77 winners.
Some very exciting races took place and in the poor conditions both sets of riders did well to keep the match at an interesting level.
One highlight for the Lions was the return to track action of Jamie Ball.
