DUDLEY residents are switching on for Recycle Now Week thanks to a council incentive that's giving away hundreds of energy saving light bulbs.
From Monday JUne 2 to Sunday June 8, any Dudley borough resident who orders a black box for the council's recycling collection scheme will be in with a chance of winning one of the 250 bulbs that will be given away.
The bulbs, which are being provided by e-on, help to save energy and reduce waste produced by normal bulbs that don't last as long.
When the bulbs finally stop working they can also be recycled at the household waste and recycling centre in Stourbridge.
All Dudley households with ground floor access are entitled to a free black box, which allows residents to recycle glass, cans and paper.
Residents in small blocks of flats are also being encouraged to recycle by placing paper, cans and glass in carrier bags on collection days.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: "Recycle Now Week means that people across the country will be looking at how they can have a positive impact on the environment by recycling more.
"We're sure that offering these free energy saving light bulbs will be a small incentive to even more residents signing up to our free recycling collection service."
