A MAN has been airlifted to hospital suffering from multiple burn injuries after a gas bottle exploded in Stourbridge.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to an address in Pedmore, shortly before 3.40pm this afternoon (Thursday June 5).
An ambulance, a rapid response car and the County Air Ambulance from Staffordshire were sent to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "When the ambulance service staff arrived on the scene, they found a man who had suffered burns to his arms and hands, leg and head, from an exploding gas bottle.
"The man was in his green house and had been trying to light a fire, when the fire eventually lit, there was an explosion."
The patient's burns were treated and dressed at the scene before the man was airlifted to the specialist burns unit at Selly Oak Hospital for further treatment.
