MEMBERS of the management committee at Stourbridge RFC will meet with RFU officials this Friday regarding the proposal to move the club's first team to Sixways.
It comes after the new owners at Sixways - Atlas - held their fans forum event on Saturday at the stadium. Directors Jim O'Toole and James Sandford presented their plans for the club to 550 Worcester Warriors season ticket holders.
One of the main plans is to bring the Stourbridge RFC first-team (semi-professional side who play in the National League 2 West) to Sixways from next season under the Worcester Warriors name.
Stourbridge presented the proposal to the club's minis and juniors section on Sunday afternoon and now on Friday evening, they will meet with the RFU (Rugby Football Union).
"Negotiations continue with Atlas after their Sixways forum on Saturday. Our committee awaits precise details of the proposal from Atlas with appropriate time scales by the end of this week," a statement read.
"A meeting has been arranged between Stourbridge Management Committee and Senior RFU officials for Friday. Further updates will follow."
The RFU - the rugby governing body in England - has the overall say on any relocation of a club, as well as a name change. They have already rejected Atlas' application to join The Championship next season but the new owners are confident the RFU will support them joining lower down the league system.
Stourbridge are currently bottom of the league in the National League 2 West with just one win all season but they did pick up 2 points in their 31-24 defeat at Newport (Salop). They remain 16 points from safety, however, with seven games to play.
The bottom two sides in the division will be relegated from the National League system and drop into the regional leagues.
