A MAN was run over and a policeman was assaulted as "completely unacceptable behaviour" happened during a memorial in Kingswinford and Pensnett to tragic motorbike rider Pauly Skidmore.
A man has been arrested for assaulting a police officer and a man was taken to hospital after being run over by a car during events yesterday (Sunday March 26) commemorating the life of 19-year-old Pauly.
Pauly died after a crash involving a van on Stream Road, Kingswinford.
Police said residents were "concerned about anti-social behaviour" and said they "will not tolerate the completely unacceptable behaviour witnessed yesterday which included motorbikes being ridden in a dangerous and aggressive manner."
They said they are reviewing complaints and will "where appropriate" "act against those involved."
They are also appealing for witnesses to a crash during which a man was run over by a car just before 3pm yesterday on Stream Road, Kingswinford, during the memorial and have appealed for witnesses to get in touch.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "While we respect the desire of family and friends to commemorate the young man, we will not tolerate the completely unacceptable behaviour witnessed yesterday which included motorbikes being ridden in a dangerous and aggressive manner and traffic being obstructed.
"One of our officers was also assaulted and we arrested a man for this.
"We are currently reviewing complaints received and where appropriate we will act against those involved."
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian at 3.39pm.
"One ambulance attended.
"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian.
"He was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital for further treatment."
Huge crowds gathered outside the Dell stadium where a balloon release was held in tribute to Pauly, who was killed in a crash on March 21.
Traffic officers and drones were deployed to the area and a dispersal order was put in place by police until midnight.
