STOURBRIDGE Carnival made a welcome return to the town at the weekend after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The crowds filled the streets on Sunday July 2 as the town welcomed performers, stalls, a fun fair and classic car display.

Organiser David Harcourt said: “A slightly cool and breezy day didn't prevent everyone enjoying a fun and very warm-hearted day of entertainment.

“After three years away due to the pandemic, the crowds returned - filling the streets.”

He said the fun fair proved a hit with little ones and some of the stalls had sold out of wares by 2pm and Peaky Blinders characters “created great interest around the town”.

Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb said it "was nice to see the High Street so lively and colourful" and that she enjoyed watching Side by Side theatre group perform.

Rock Choir, Bhangra Smash Up, and comedy acts The Fizzogs and Granny Turismo also took to the stage in the main arena to entertain onlookers.

The event, which also included live band performances, was also part of this year’s Black Country Festival.
