STOURBRIDGE businesses are invited to take part in a best dressed window competition as part of Remembrance commemorations.
Vintage vehicle enthusiast David Spruce has organised a second military vehicle parade which is set to take place in the town centre on Saturday November 11, following the success of the first event held last year.
As part of this year’s celebration – he has invited businesses across the town to dress their shop windows for Remembrance.
Prizes have been offered up for the winning entrants to donate to a charity of their choice thanks to sponsorship by Pre Metro Operations Ltd, which David works for as a driver for the Stourbridge Shuttle.
There’s £125 for the winner, £75 for the second place entrant and £50 for the third.
David, a lifelong resident of Stourbridge, said: “Last year I organised the First Stourbridge Military Vehicle Parade and was overwhelmed by the support it got from the general public and the traders in the town.
“Due to its success, I am doing it again and would love to get the town into a Remembrance Weekend atmosphere and help raise awareness of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.”
The military vehicle parade will go through the town on Saturday November 11 starting at the top of the High Street at midday and winding up in Canal Street, by The Bonded Warehouse, where the vehicles will be on display afterwards.
Businesses within the town keen to get involved with the window competition are invited to register their interest with David by emailing him at davidrspruce@gmail.com or calling 07986 170715. Entries need to be confirmed with the organiser by Sunday October 22.
A Facebook page - Stourbridge’s 2nd Military Vehicle Parade – has been set up for people to find out more about this year's event.
