A BUSY road in Wordsley has now reopened after a car hit a wall in the early hours of this morning (Monday March 18) injuring two adults and three children.
Camp Hill (A491) was taped off by police after the incident, which happened just after 1am, and the main route has been closed for much of today, with traffic diverted.
One woman had to be cut free from the car and was taken to the region’s trauma centre – the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham – with “potentially serious injuries”.
Another woman and three children were also taken to hospital – to nearby Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley - with injuries that were not believed to be serious.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said of the incident: "Fire engines from Stourbridge and Brierley Hill responded, the first arriving within four minutes of being mobilised.
"Firefighters freed a woman from the vehicle using cutting equipment. Fire crews delivered trauma care, before paramedics conveyed her to Russells Hall Hospital.
"Three children had freed themselves from the vehicle before our arrival. They were treated by paramedics for minor injuries and were also conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital.
"The incident was left with the police, and we left the scene at 2am."
According to traffic data, Camp Hill (A491) has since re-opened to traffic both ways after accident investigation work between the B4180 Brierley Hill Road and Brook Street.
