THE Robin Hood at Amblecote has been presented with its second ‘pub of the year’ award after being voted the best in the area by the Campaign for Real Ale.
The pub in Collis Street, popular with real ale fans, has been named the Stourbridge & Halesowen branch of CAMRA’s 2024 Pub of the Year.
Branch chairman Tim Cadwell congratulated the pub when he handed over the accolade on April 10 and said: “The Robin Hood is one of the most consistently good pubs we have in our branch.
“It had a wide range of real ales to choose from and guest beers are quickly rotated showing good customer participation.
“Not very much had changed at the Robin Hood in recent years and with stability brings familiarity – as a branch we have all got used to it being here and it’s a reliable destination for a great pint.
“It’s one of the most consistent high scorers amongst CAMRA members, leading to it usually being one of the first names on our list for next year’s Good Beer Guide.
"The branch has often recognised a new, recent or refurbished pub as our Pub of the Year for bringing a breath a fresh air to our branch locally, so this time it is great to recognise a pub that has been consistently great for a very long period of time."
It’s the second time the Robin Hood has been awarded the CAMRA Pub-of-the-Year award by the Stourbridge & Halesowen branch.
The pub, which serves a range of real ales including locally brewed favourite Bathams, was bought in 2005 by Black Country businessman, David Jeavons, and has remained in the family ever since. Dave and his wife Marj and their four children, Charlotte, Ben, Amie and Hannah, have all worked in the pub at various times with Ben as manager.
The branch will present its Club-of-the-Year award to the Coombs Wood Sports & Social Club, Halesowen, on May 8.
