A MAN in his 20s was taken to the region's trauma unit with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Brettell Lane, Amblecote, last night (Sunday April 21).
The man, a pedestrian, was treated at the scene before being taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after the incident, involving one car, which happened just before 7pm.
Emergency services flooded the scene and police taped off the busy road for some time following the collision.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said of the incident: “We were called at 6.50pm on Sunday to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Brettell Lane, Wordsley in Stourbridge.
"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor and the WMAS Critical Care Car attended the scene.
"Upon arrival we found a man who was the pedestrian. He was assessed by ambulance staff and sustained serious injuries.
"He received advanced trauma care at the scene and was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.”
West Midlands Police said the injured man suffered a "serious head injury" in the collision which left the road closed for some time.
A spokesperson for the force added: "The driver of the car involved remained at the scene helping officers with their enquiries."
