AUTHOR Alison Jean Lester is running a range of reader in residence events for all ages at Brierley Hill Library this month.
All events will take place at the library in High Street on Monday May 13.
Alison will be continuing the adult book group sessions she began in March with a reading and presentation from ‘Glide’ - her own novel set in Massachusetts about Leo Coffin who is making a birthday cake for his wife who is away in Norway when a stranger comes to the door claiming to be her half-brother. This session runs from 1pm to 2pm.
Alison is also hosting a series of reading sessions for young readers and their families. Children can choose any book to read out loud and every child who takes part will receive a prize. The session runs from 3pm to 4pm.
Finally, she will be talking about her father's writing from his time as a psychologist on the first American Mount Everest expedition in 1963. His memoirs also cover his return to the region 35 years later to find the Sherpa climbers who made his ascent possible. ‘Returned to the scene of the climb’ runs from 6pm to 7pm.
Stephanie Rhoden, Dudley partnership manager at GLL, said: “We’re really lucky to have Alison who is such a talented author with experience of running community sessions. She ran a series of events in March which went down so well that we’re repeating them in May for anyone who missed out first time around.
“These free sessions are open to all ages, and whether you’re a writer, a reader or just interested in listening to a good story, we have something for you with our new Reader in Residence programme.”
