STOURBRIDGE MP Suzanne Webb has praised the team from Scratch Nail and Beauty Salon after they raised £2,000 for the Guide Dogs charity by walking a half marathon.
Suzanne and her dog Sid joined the team in Mary Stevens Park on Saturday for the last mile of the five-hour trek from Stourport-on-Severn.
Salon owner Chantal Welvaert and eight staff members took part in the walk, along canal towpaths.
Every year the salon in Hagley Road, Oldswinford, raises money for charity and this year the Guide Dogs charity was chosen as it is close to their hearts.
Staff member Elise Richards has a step-son, Luca Rojas-Alvarez, aged 15, who is registered blind and he joined them on the last mile and back at the salon had chance to meet a guide dog as he will be needing one for himself soon.
Chantal said: “I am so proud of all the girls who took part and we really enjoyed doing it as a team.
“It was amazing that we have had so much support from our clients and family and friends and that we all walked the last mile together with Luca."
Suzanne congratulated the team at the salon, which has been open for nearly 20 years, on their “wonderful effort in aid of a brilliant cause”.
She added: “I was honoured to join them for the final mile and to meet Luca and his family who will benefit from the charity’s work in the future.”
