A WORDSLEY councillor has expressed her disappointment after vandals struck at a recently renovated play area.

Councillor Kerry Lewis was outraged after yobs vandalised the play facility at King George V Park, off Lawnswood Road, by throwing dog poo bags, litter and gravel onto the facility.

She said: “The sight of the mindless act in the play area was truly disheartening. The area was littered with full dog bags, litter, and gravel. “This behaviour will not be tolerated.

“The Friends of Wordsley Parks group have dedicated a great deal of time and effort to enhance the park for the enjoyment of all.

Cllr Lewis visited the play area on Monday (June 3) after the weekend incident was reported by the Friends group.

She later told the News that Dudley Council’s Street Scene Neighbourhood teams had tidied and washed down the play equipment, which was installed thanks to £80k worth of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding, and it’s now back in use.

Cllr Lewis urged anyone with any information about what happened to call police on 101.
