BOSSES at Summerhill School in Kingswinford have appealed to the public for help after intruders stole both school minibuses last night (Sunday June 16).

The incident happened at around 11.30pm.

A post on the school’s Facebook page said the loss of both minibuses would have a “significant knock-on effect” on students.

The post read: “Unfortunately last night we had intruders on school site who stole both of our minibuses.

“They took them through the exit gate of the school and turned left past our entrance gate, towards the A449. This was at 11.30pm last night.

“There was a car driving in front of them that we believe to be associated, which appears to be a light-coloured saloon of some description.

“Obviously the minibuses are quite distinguishable as they have Summerhill School all over them.”

The post added that police have been informed and urged anyone with any information about the incident to contact the school on 01384 816165 or email info@summerhill.dudley.sch.uk or West Midlands Police by calling 101 or via Live Chat on the force website.

A spokesperson for the school added: “Obviously the act of these individuals will have a significant knock on effect to our students as they are used each day for fixtures, trips or community events.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Another poster told how a rounders tournament has already had to be cancelled due to the thefts.

They added: "It’s disgusting and I hope the other local schools ramp up their security so their kids don’t suffer."

West Midlands Police confirmed it is investigating the theft.

A force spokesperson said: "It is understood that intruders forced their way through gates into the grounds of the school before making off with the vehicles around 11.30pm.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101 or via Live Chat on our website and quote crime reference 20/589852/24."
