A WORDSLEY pub is set to re-open later this month after a major £362,000 investment.

The Ashwood Inn in Sandringham Place will reopen its doors to customers on Thursday August 22, with husband-and-wife team Sandra and Steve Pemblington behind the bar.

The pub, part of Proper Pubs (a division of Admiral Taverns), will be completely transformed with new flooring, furniture, fixtures and fittings.

The refurbishment will also include the removal of an internal wall to create a spacious open plan bar area, with a cosy lounge and games section with new pool table, darts board and five flatscreen televisions showing Sky and TNT Sports.

The pub will also boast a new function space, for up to 100 people, which will be available for private hire.

Outside, there will be new lighting, signage and an updated seating area.

Sandra and Steve - who have been at the helm of another Proper Pub for the last four years - bring almost 30 years’ experience with them.

Sandra said: “The pub is looking absolutely incredible already and we can’t wait to get behind the bar to meet all our customers and show off the pub’s new look.”

Matthew Gurney, operations director for Proper Pubs, added: “I’m really excited about the transformational refurbishment at the Ashwood Inn and the upcoming reopening – I think it’s going to be absolutely fantastic. The team is working extremely hard to bring this vision to life, and we’re now just finalising the finishing touches ready to open in just over a week.”

The pub will host a weekend of entertainment to celebrate the reopening including a private reception for family and friends at 6pm on Thursday August 22, live music from local band Bedazzled and a DJ set on Friday August 23 from 6pm, a family fun day on Sunday August 25 and a day of children’s entertainment on Monday August 26.

Regular entertainment is also planned going forwards including live music evenings every Saturday, disco and karaoke nights on Fridays and Sundays plus weekly quiz, bingo and games evenings.
