A TALENTED young dancer who attends Hagley School of Dance has been chosen to star in a production of Giselle.

Harrison Breeze, aged 10, from Halesowen was selected in June to be part of the 100-strong cast of English Youth Ballet's (EYB) show.

The dancers were handpicked during highly competitive auditions.

He is buzzing with excitement: "I started dancing after Covid and initially got into ballroom and Latin dancing after watching Strictly.

"I progressed very quickly in the competitive dance world and have had the opportunity over the years to train with Strictly's Amy Dowden and Oti Mabuse."

He further shared his experience transitioning into ballet, explaining: "Last year I decided to start ballet after watching the Birmingham Royal Ballet's Nutcracker and wanting to expand my knowledge of dance styles."

Harrison embraced ballet to explore a different aspect of dancing that went beyond competition and involved putting up a whole show.

He added: "The best thing about being a dancer is performing for others and putting on a show, I love entertaining an audience.

"I also like representing boys in the dance world, I always try and encourage other boys to give dancing ago".

He also expressed his aspirations to audition for renowned ballet and performing arts schools later this year.

"This opportunity with the EYB has come at the perfect time in order for me to be able to experience what training full time will be like.

"It will be a great experience and it will help me decide on what to pursue in the future".

Away from the spotlight, the young star enjoys spending quality time with his friends and family, riding his bike, exploring the outdoors, reading, and playing on his PlayStation.

The grand spectacle, featuring Harrison and his peers, will grace the stages of the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from September 6-7, 2024.
