POLICE are investigating after a cyclist was injured in a hit and run incident in Brierley Hill earlier this week.

A boy was taken to hospital serious injuries after the incident, involving a car and a cyclist, which happened in Hawbush Road just before 2.30pm on Tuesday September 3.

The driver fled the scene, police have confirmed, but the vehicle has since been recovered and officers have been working to identify who was behind the wheel.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We're investigating after a teenager was injured when they hit by a car in Hawbush Road, Brierley Hill, just before 2.30pm on Tuesday (September 3).

“The boy was taken to hospital with fractures.

“The driver made off from the scene, but the vehicle has since been recovered.

“We're now carrying out further enquiries around the car as we work to identify who was the driver.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said when paramedics arrived at the scene of the incident they found a “teenage male with potentially serious injuries following a reported collision involving a cyclist and a car”.

The teenager was treated at the scene before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Relatives of the youngster have taken to social media to urge the public to check their Ring doorbell, dashcam and CCTV footage to try to identify the driver of the car involved, as they told how distressing the incident had been.
