BOSSES at Pedmore High School have praised police and staff for the way they responded after a teenager was attacked with a knife outside a Stourbridge school.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being “hit with a knife” in an incident which happened in Grange Lane at 3.20pm.yesterday afternoon (Wednesday September 25) – police said.

The teenager sustained wounds to his face but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

West Midlands Ambulance service sent an ambulance, paramedic officer, MERIT trauma doctor, critical care paramedic and BASICS doctor to the incident and treated the youngster at the scene before taking him to hospital.

Meanwhile, two boys, aged 17 and 16, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. A 15-year-old has also been arrested on conspiracy to commit assault.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said today: "They remain in custody for questioning.

"We are increasing our patrols in the area today as we know this incident has caused concern in the community.”

Bosses at the school, which is part of the Invictus Education Trust, have praised police and teaching staff for their response to the incident and said the community has pulled together in the wake of the drama which unfolded as students were finishing school for the day.

A spokesperson for Pedmore High School: “Following the incident last night, the school has been really calm and purposeful today. It has been heartening to see how our community has come together to support one another.

“We are also grateful to the police for the speed in which they responded to the incident last night – and we are helping their investigation in any way that we can.

“It is also right just to acknowledge the staff here at Pedmore, who should be applauded for the support they not only showed the student hurt last night, but also the care and attention they have shown the whole community.”
