A ceramics business is crafting poppies for a special display to honour service members.

Saz’s Ceramics & Crafts, based at the Red House Glass Cone, Wordsley, is creating the ceramic poppies to remember those who have served or are serving in the British Armed Forces.

Each poppy, handmade and personalisable with the name of a service member, costs £10 to sponsor, with £2 from each sale going to the Royal British Legion.

The idea came after Carly Grandini-Williams, general manager of the company, heard an interview on Black Country Radio with Rose Cook Monk, a representative of Dudley Remembers.

Ms Cook Monk aims to fill the Black Country with poppy displays made from various materials.

Ms Grandini-Williams then offered her services by producing ceramic poppies, which will initially be displayed at the Red House Glass Cone in November.

The poppies can be purchased by visiting the company's studio, calling 07966 514766, or visiting the giftware section of its website (www.sazsceramics.co.uk).

Once the display is over, all poppies will be handed to Dudley Remembers, which will move them around various locations across the Black Country each year to ensure the tribute continues beyond the initial display.
