THE cat’s out of the bag – Starbucks is finally coming to Stourbridge.
With plenty of independent cafes, a couple of Costas, a Nero and a Coffee#1, the town has been missing a Starbucks for the last 20 years.
But the coffee giant has finally found a location in the town and is busy recruiting and transforming the old Halifax branch in the High Street into a new coffee haunt.
There’s no confirmation on when it will open yet, but work on the shop has been taking place and job adverts seeking baristas published.
Starbucks initially said it had no news to share when quizzed last month about plans to open in Stourbridge but this week, as signs appeared on the glass frontage of the empty shop, there was no further hiding it.
However, the international coffee company, which has three outlets at Merry Hill shopping centre but none in any of the borough’s towns, has remained tight-lipped on details.
A spokesperson for Starbucks simply said: “We’re looking forward to bringing the Starbucks experience to customers in Stourbridge and will be in touch once we have more specific plans to share.”
