KINVER Rotarians have issued an SOS call for volunteers to help save Christmas.
It’s usually ‘jingle all the way’ at this time of year as Kinver Rotary Club prepares to dust off Santa’s sleigh ahead of a popular tour of the streets in Kinver and surrounding areas.
But this year, the fundraising club is short on Santa’s little helpers and has issued a plea for more volunteers to come forward to ensure Santa’s sleigh tour goes ahead.
A spokesperson for Kinver Rotary Club said: “Christmas may seem a long way ahead but for members of the Rotary Club of Kinver it is already ‘work in progress’ with the servicing of Santa’s sleigh already well underway in preparation for the annual tour of the area.
“However, all these preparations may be in vain as they have shown up the desperate need for volunteers from the general public to accompany Santa on his tours and assist with the door-to-door collections which raise so much money for local charities.
“Rotarians themselves will be able to cover most requirements of the two Aldi supermarkets but do not have the man or woman power to adequately meet the numbers needed to undertake the evenings when Santa visits Kinver, Enville, Stourton and parts of Wollaston and Wall Heath.
“If sufficient volunteers cannot be found soon, the preparations will be put on hold and the Santa tours put in doubt.”
Anyone who could lend a hand, even for just one evening, is asked to contact Roy Sanders on 01384 265477.
Evening dates for the sleigh outings are: Saturday November 30 (Kinver late night shopping event), Monday December 9, Tuesday December 10, Wednesday December 11, Thursday December 12, Friday December 13, Monday December 16, Tuesday December 17, Wed December 18, Thursday December 19 and Friday December 20.
Daytime collections will take place on Sunday December 8 (Santa Jog and Enville switch-on), Saturday December 14 and 21, and Friday December 13 and 20 (school visits).
