TWO men who were arrested after a car crashed into a tree killing the passenger in Dudley have been released on bail.

The men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and were taken into custody after the crash on Dixons Green Road on Saturday (October 19) at around 2am.

A man who was the passenger of the car was declared dead at the scene and the driver, who was also arrested, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injures.

He is still in hospital.

A second car which is believed to have been involved in the events leading to the fatal crash was later stopped by officers.

A police spokesperson said today (Wednesday October 23): "Our investigation is ongoing and the two men in custody yesterday have released pending investigation.

"One man remains in hospital."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma team were responded to the scene.

"Crews arrived to find a car which had collided with a tree.

"The passenger of the car, a man, was in a critical condition.

"Despite the best efforts of ambulance staff nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased on scene a short time later.

"The driver, a man, was given treatment on scene for non-life threatening injuries before being conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital."
