A GROUP of Ghostbusters film fans were in high spirits after raising more than £600 for a Stourbridge hospice by taking part in a charity crawl of spooky pubs.
The West Midlands Ghostbusters - a community group of devotees of the hit movie franchise – hit the streets in their suits, armed with proton packs, for a charity walk stopping off at an array of supposedly haunted pubs along the way.
The walk, on the afternoon of Saturday October 26, was organised to raise funds for The Mary Stevens Hospice in Oldswinford.
Starting out from Himley Hall, the team - comprising around 15 men, women and children - stopped off at several supposedly haunted watering holes along the way.
The film fans stopped off at The Dudley Arms, The Queens Head and The Old Cat at Wordsley, The Starving Rascal at Amblecote, The Unicorn in Wollaston and The Talbot Hotel in Stourbridge and The Crabmill at Oldswinford - finishing their adventure at the hospice just a few doors away.
Group member Steve Robbins, from Rowley Regis, said the event had proved a “great day”.
He told the News: “Saturday went brilliant, we did really well.
“I’d like to give a special thanks to the hospice for helping me set up a great day and a big thanks to all the venues we visited – a special mention to the Crabmill, our final location, for the food and drinks they put on for us) and lastly a big thanks to Jason from Hawk-Eye Vision for coming with us all day to photograph it for us.”
The group had set a £500 target to raise which they managed to smash – raising a total of £616.
Donations can still be made by anyone who wants to boost the fundraising total. Go to the JustGiving website and search West Midlands Ghostbusters fundraiser for Mary Stevens Hospice.
