OSH has won the inaugural John Fisher State School Rugby Festival.
Over the weekend of October 19-20, the Stourbridge school took part in the John Fisher School Invitational National State School Rugby Festival.
This festival aimed to showcase the level of rugby talent in the state school sector.
It provided an opportunity for OSH's first XV to test their skills against 12 of the best rugby-playing state schools from across the country.
The team consisted of a mix of years 11, 12, and 13, including some players who had previously had success in national competitions at Twickenham.
Others had only joined the OSH Sixth Form in September.
Over two days, the team played six 20-minute games.
They won all five of their group matches against RGS Lancaster, Ravens Wood School, Langley Park School, Wimbledon College, and the hosts, John Fisher School.
This led them to the final against a strong team from The Judd School.
In challenging wet conditions, the OSH boys played a structured game, controlling territory well.
They forced their opposition, who were also unbeaten, to defend their line for long periods.
A try from a driving maul and a converted try resulted in a final score of 12-0, making OSH the first winners of the National State Schools Rugby Festival.
After the matches, the trophy was presented to OSH captain, Ollie McCarthy, by the tournament's main sponsor, Peter Bennett.
The school has said it is already looking forward to next year's festival.
