FOR the first time ever, supermarket giant Lidl has unveiled a festive Christmas truck for its own-brand cola drink which is set to embark on a tour across the country.

Transforming its fan-favourite Freeway Cola into a 15 tonne, 20-metre-long truck, Lidl says it will be heading to the West Midlands on their tour, making a stop in Wolverhampton on November 23.

There will be a pop-up winter wonderland at each stop, with more than 2,000 present boxes containing items from Lidl’s famed ‘Middle Aisle’ being handed out to the first visitors.

Inside one in 10 of the presents is a ‘golden ticket’ which, if found, will gift lucky shoppers their Christmas food shop at Lidl for free.

Visitors will also be able to submit a Christmas wish at the truck – whatever would make Christmas for them and their families “truly magical” – with the retailer saying it will grant “a number of them, making dreams big or small come true”.

To celebrate putting their own cola drink on the road for the first time, Lidl’s Christmas ad features the character ‘Nick’ who brings the truck to life, setting off on a tour of Great Britain.

Setting off on November 14, the Freeway Cola truck will be heading to Dundee, Harrogate, Hull, Nottingham, Wrexham, Luton and Bournemouth, as well as Wolverhampton, before completing its journey on December 1 in Southampton.

Joanna Gomer, marketing director at Lidl GB, said: “Giving back to the communities we serve is really important to us and our exciting new Freeway truck allows us to get right into the heart of them this year.

“By touring nine stops across the country, we'll be using our giant truck to hand out present boxes, give away festive food shops and grant wishes that will make dreams come true.

“Look out for the Freeway truck on its tour and most importantly, come join the fun.”

The truck will be making its stop in the West Midlands at Victoria Street and Bell Square in Wolverhampton from noon until 6pm.
